I am so mad....

....Not!!! To all those who talked about their Hancock's of Paducah catalogs. Yes, I mean you. Well, I had to get one and it showed up in the mail. OH MY GOSH!!! Beautiful!!!! Going to save, THEN order so I don't murder the budget. :) Breathe deep, control, hide the debit card....

DogHouseMom 01-23-2013 04:49 PM

It could be worse ... you could live a mile from the store. :)

koigirl 01-23-2013 05:43 PM

Oh my goodness, Sue. That is bad....being able to go in and touch them, rub them, and see in person their colors and 'personalities'....yep, you're right. Maybe I shall consider myself very fortunate, indeed.

caroloto 01-23-2013 05:51 PM

I know, love their fabric and I'm bad at not helping you to hide your debit card! Just got an email from Hancock's of Paducah saying Friends and Family save 15% and all of you on this board are my friends:

  • Type 76453234 in the promotional code box during checkout.
  • Offer expires January 25, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. CST.
  • All oversized items excluded from this offer.
  • Limit two battings per order.
  • Orders placed before receipt of this email are not valid for this offer.

You don't have to place a big order to get one. I think they send the catalogs
out as long as they have them in stock.

koigirl 01-23-2013 07:32 PM

Yep, they do. Ask and you shall receive. Careful, thou, it's dangerous.

Would it really so bad to be so close to haeven?

dd 01-24-2013 04:58 AM

I received my first Hancock's catalog and was thinking of placing an order but just couldn't decide on a few but wanted everything. Thanks for the 15% now I can place an order.

Rose Marie 01-24-2013 05:26 AM

I love the eye candy. Dont order much but just enough to keep the catalog coming.
Wish I was rich enough to order everything.
Thanks for the 15% off.

BellaBoo 01-24-2013 05:51 AM

I don't think it's new except two times a year? I get two a year, Fall and winter, Spring and Summer. I don't think it has anything to do with ordering.

NikkiLu 01-24-2013 05:54 AM

My DD did live about a mile from their store in Paducah but has now moved to a new house a few miles from the store!!! We live 5 hours away in MO - she has accused me of only coming to see her in order to go to Hancocks of Paducah - LOL

wolph33 01-24-2013 06:13 AM

lol I feel bad for you.hide the catalog-forget you saw it

feline fanatic 01-24-2013 06:41 AM

Why oh why did I open this thread. I was being so good. Now I have to go grab those pages I dog eared and get 15% off!!

BellaBoo 01-24-2013 07:16 AM

Paducah is about 5 hours from me too. I go there every so often and spend the night. I visit Quilt in a Day, Hancock's and the quilt shops downtown and of course the quilt museum. I usually go to the Quilt Show there but this year and last year my guild's retreat is the same week. Can't be at both. Ugh.

bunniequilter 01-24-2013 07:27 AM

Everyone has their "bucket" list. My list is titled, When I Win the Lottery.... Hancocks is number one on my qulit related list, then a new house with a huge sewing room to store the fabirc lol

nhweaver 01-24-2013 07:38 AM

They are having a nice web sale, I got Stella and Lulu material for next year's dgd high school graduation. I am doing the fabric moratorium, but she is my beach baby, and this line is so appropriate!

gabeway 01-24-2013 07:40 AM

Ah just go for it! I need company!

Cagey 01-24-2013 07:50 AM

Oh my gosh - I just realized how close I'll be to Padukah when we go to Nashville in March. Guess my family will have to suffer through a stop there. Can't be that close and not go. Thanks for the reminder!

Kathy Osterby 01-24-2013 09:57 AM

I just got my first catalog from them and I can't decide where to start! Will be going for their CW and 30's fabrics after the 3rd of Feb(that's when $$$ come).

SharonTheriault 01-24-2013 10:56 AM

Just got my catalog the other day and was so taken by the colors and prints. Definitely eye candy. Went to the store when we were in Kentucky last year.... talk about being overwhelmed! Oh my there is sooooo much beautiful fabric! Then there's the finished quilts hanging from the ceiling that MADE me by a couple of the kits. Notions, and fabric, and patterns.... oh my!

My DD is actually a newspaper reporter for the Paducah Sun and has interviewed the owners of the shop (Hancock's of Paducah - not to be confused with Hancocks) - anyway, the owner said that sometimes women come into the store and burst out crying!!!

LynnVT 01-24-2013 02:02 PM

I'll never forget walking into their cavernous store when we went to Paducah about 15 years ago. Soooo much fabric! And all the tables of sale stuff. Lucious. The catalog is nice, too.

Lori S 01-24-2013 02:04 PM

Getting the Hancocks of Padukah catalog is like Christmas morning.

dd 01-24-2013 02:09 PM

I just placed my order. Most of the stuff I wanted was out of stock but it said to preorder and it will be shipped when it comes in. Saves on shipping that way.

I'm still pouring over mine! I DON'T NEED ANYTHING. I need to repeat that another 1000 times. But there is some super cute bug fabric I may have to get.

MimiBug123 01-24-2013 02:44 PM

LOL! This reminds me of my DGS. I told him to make a list of what he wanted Mimi and Papa to get him for Christmas. He started out pretty good, with things like Legos, Wii games, etc. Then he made big red Xs on all the things he had written and wrote "Just get me one of everything. It will be easier for you. I love you, G." I put the note in my TBD scrapbook box. I thought it was hysterical and he was only thinking of helping us out!

ayellowrose 01-25-2013 05:00 AM

Thanks for the discount! I've been drooling for a week!

nygal 01-25-2013 05:17 AM

Thanks for the saving code. I just received fabric from them two days ago.

AlienQuilter 01-25-2013 05:31 AM

I have only been there once. DH took me to the quilt show, the quilt museum and Hancock's. If you have never been there before, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to browse and by that, at least a couple of hours. I remember the flatfold tables taking up a huge room - and I mean warehouse size room. It's humongous!

I don't get the catalog in the mail but I get emails several times a month from them. Go to their website and sign up.

Another store you should go by is Marshall's Dry Goods in Batesville, Arkansas. If you plan a trip near that area, you really need to go by there. DH is so sweet to me he always checks what quilt stores are nearby when we take road trips.

kydeb 01-25-2013 06:44 AM

I order fairly often from them (especially the clearance fabric). They send me a catalog with each shipment and I get one in the mail! They are beautiful but I told my husband that as many as they send me, they could cut back and give me a frequent shopper discount and I would be happier ;-)

I order from them alot, and get their emails that notify me of sales and free s&h offers. I buy batiks at $4-5 per yard! And get backing when it is on sale. I wait for these offers before I order.

AlienQuilter 01-25-2013 07:33 AM

I just looked at their weekly email flyer. Beautiful Timeless Tonga Batik Blue Lagoon Fat Quarters 12 for $19.99. Be still my credit card! Oh, they are gorgeous.

AlienQuilter 01-25-2013 07:34 AM

Beware though, Hancocks prices are by the half-yard not a full yard. But still good prices.

Perfectly good reason to visit id say !!!!!

solstice3 01-25-2013 07:44 AM

I agreee!! A friend loaned me hers and I am in awe. Just gotta order and have it delivered elsewhere to avoid frowns from DH. (he reall doesn't care but tries to act like he is getting pushed out by fabric)

MartiMorga 01-25-2013 09:05 AM

Love going to Hancocks in Paducah!!!! Only an hour or so away....maybe more. But it is worth it. They offer a catalog every time you purchase something, so I can't imagine that they wouldn't send one to you. Of course you can look at the catalog on line as well. Just fun, fun, fun!

Jim's Gem 01-25-2013 10:52 AM

I LOVE just looking thru that catalog!! So many gorgeous fabrics!!!!!
Wish I could go to the store someday, but it is way way too far away for me!

topstitch 01-25-2013 12:02 PM

I love to fondle fabric!!!!
