The next Quilt I'm making is going to be a kite quilt. Now I don't know if I want to make it with Batiks or Orientals or both. I only have a few of each. I keep giving it away. So I have to start to collect them again. Anyone have any ideas?

You quilt idea sounds great. Are you going to be using blocks or doing it more like a landscape quilt? I haven't used any oriental fabric so not sure how it looks. Why don't you lay the fabrics you have out and see what you think?

It will be a charm quilt.

Orientals sound nice. I was watching the opening ceremony for the Olympics and one of the commentators said that kites originated in China.

I would say both, only because kites are all different and it would look like the sky with all different colors and pictures in the sky when they are flying there kites. I hope that makes sense.

YOU COULD MAKE IT IN CONTRASTING FABRICS FROM YOUR CHARM COLLECTION

I usually don't put batiks with "ordinary" quilting fabrics because I feel the batiks are more tightly woven -
Do you plan to machine or hand quilt the piece? Some of the ladies in my group say that hand quilting batik fabrics is a lot more difficult that the "regular" quilting fabrics. |
Batiks are always good.
