I refinished this 1937 Singer 201. I have the gift cards the lady was given and each attachment was meant for gifts as well, loads of attachments. I love to sew with it, it sound like a mack truck after driving my Toyota!!
This sewer used this machine all those year and sold it at a yard sale for $20 when he went into a nursing home. |
Its gorgeous! :)
You did a great job! |
Wow, nice. I wish my Grandmother's 201 looked that good. All her decals are gone and it's gross looking. It sits in a cabinet in my basement. I wish I had a pretty cabinet like yours for it though.

It is in great shape...looks shiny and new!

Beautiful machine and gorgeous cabinet! Thx for sharing.

I had my grandmothers in the cabinet but it rusted out...during a time when I didn't appreciate Vintage Singers...I'm wondering if she can be saved...I guess she'll have to make a trip to a Singer Dr.

Truly a work of art!!! It is so wonderful that it continues to be loved by someone like you.

You did a phenomenal job with the refinishing.
You are one lucky lady. |
Such a pretty machine. I bought a Singer Touch and Sew and it came in a cabinet just like that one. I took it out and switched it with the cabinet that my Rocketeer came in.

gorgeous cabinet, too

Beautiful!
Mom had a Singer like yours, but a few years 'younger', maybe 41 or 42, & she had the same cabinet - not one I often see on ebay, Craigslist, etc. I grew up sewing on it in the 50s & 60s. I now have Mom's cabinet but it needs work. My younger brother got it when we split Mom & Dad's things among their 4 kids many years ago. He did not sew & used it in his laundry room - bleach, detergent, etc sat on it for years, unbeknownst to me. (He lives in another state). When he offered to return it to me since I sew, I was thrilled - until I saw what had happened to that beautiful old piece. I cried. Seeing your lovely cabinet & sewing machine gives me hope that I can restore Mom's. Thank you so much for sharing. |
