Your girlfriend is a very lucky young lady! She is going to love this pillow no matter what you do. Definitely print your photos on fabric paper. It should be fine to use cotton and fleece together. God luck with your project. I would love to see a photo of the pillow when you finish it.

OMG...you are adorable, not only in your pictures, but for what you are doing for your girlfriend!
I don't have anything to add, but agree with what has been said.

Stick around here and you'll learn alot.

If you are scared of your machine, I'm sure if you go and find a local fabric shop, there would be someone there that would be willing to help "unscare" you from the machine!
If I were closer (got a big pond in my way), I'd help you!

lol thanks for the help everyone. I can't find anyone who locally sells that fabric paper that you print directly on. What will happen if I do use that iron transfer paper onto white coton and then cut it out?

tlrnhi 09-09-2008 09:22 AM

I can't help you with that one. I've never used it before, but I"m sure SOMEONE here has.

this is just the cutest thing i've ever heard. i've not done the photo transfers yet but did a section on it in the book i'm reading. I found a general overview online at http://softexpressions.com/help/faq/...totransfer.htm
and according to this site, Georgia Bonesteel recommends www.printedtreasures.com the section of the book is very interesting....if you get a chance to browse through it, check pp200=205 of The Quilter's Catalog: a Comprehensive Resource Guide-----it is SO cool. I don't sell it or anything, just HIGHLY recommend it. It's by Meg Cox.

They have it at my JoAnns but it's down by the ironing mats for quilters....if you ask the wrong person, you'll never find it. Check the notions sections and look VERY carefully. If not, it's certainly available online. I checked for pillows and one site recommends "sew on"...i'm thinking that must be like the way that fusibles are categorized. You don't want to gum up the needle on that machine or we'll lose you from quilting ever again! Trust me....I learned that one the hard way and still refuse to use that machine....I'm selling it LOL.

I think that Walmart may also sell this but I'm not 100% positive. Check with the other computer paper stuff. Good Luck and keep us posted. Where are you located? Maybe someone on here lives close enough that could help you.

alright...Just got back from Joanns with all of my supplies. I was very impatient though, because they didn't have the packer fabric, so I just bought some pink fabric with hearts on it...I think it will still come out fine though. I'm printing the pictures on the fabric photo paper I found right now... Once it dries I'll pull the paper off. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks!

The pink heart fabric will look great! Can't wait to see how you do! :D

Good luck!! I know she will love it NO MATTER WHAT!! :D :D

If you get really stuck (which I don't think will happen)--is there a Home and Careers person at your high school who may lend a hand?
