I would like to do the "Quilts of Valor" challenge (Nancy's Notions). Each of the quilts will be donated to the military. I had originally thought of doing Cathedral Windows, and put a flag or star in each window, but because of the time limit I don't have time for all of that hand work. My next (and only other)thought was some form of Log Cabin. The colors must be red, white and blue. Does anyone have any idea(s) of other blocks I could use? The finished quilt will have to be about a twin size. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

If cathedral windows really interest you, look at Eddie's machine sewn tutorial.

A log cabin with the traditional red centers and shades of blue for the logs would be really nice. Anything you make will be so appreciated by these brave men and women. Bless you for taking on this challenge!

Thank you so much for the link. After watching the tutorial I think I might be able to do this by machine, and do it much faster.

Stars are always good~ :)

You can go to the Quilts of Valor web site (www.qovf.org), and they have patterns there if you're looking for ideas.

The 10 minute block would make a really nice QOV also.
