I recently placed an online order with Joann Fabrics, and by mistake purchased 4 - 1 yard cuts of Tuitti Fruitti fabric, which is a summer plisse!!!! I'm in a dither now because I don't know what to do with it...Can anyone give me suggestions as to what to use this fabric for? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated...

My Joanns takes back cuts of fabric as long as you havent cut them again. I bought 3 yards to make curtains a few months back but needed 25 so I went to 4 other stores to get the rest. When I got it home it was different.. It was homespun fabric. the first 3 yards had black strips and the other 22 yards had green ones.. I was so disapointed. Turns out the original 3 yards was dyed wrong. Anyway they took it all back at one store no problems at all. Maybe if you cant think of anything you really want to do with it you can return it.

I've heard that JoAnns online is different from the box stores and box stores don't take fabric back when ordered online.. I have no experience in this personally but would certainly call JoAnns (where you ordered) and see if they would exchange it for you.

That said, you could starch the fabric (which would take the puffiness out) and still use it for quilting. It is a soft and lovely fabric but don't know if it would keep the puffiness out after washing. Personally I think it would make a darling quilt...sometimes mistakes are the mother of invention. You might find it would be fluffy in the areas you used it and then with regular cotton would enhance the entire look of your quilt. People mix Minkee and cotton all the time and come up with some outstanding results.

If you sew there are numerous possibilities for it as Dreamer wrote.

Whatever you decide please don't fret over a mistake...life is just too short for that sort of thinking. Have fun with whatever you decide.

If you cannot return the fabric and do not want to sew clothes and can afford to keep it, I have a suggestion. Do you do raggy quilts? I add different types of fabrics in my raggy quilts sometimes for "interest". Even though not all fabrics fray as much as others, if you use two layers of flannel, the bloom still does nice.

Sew easy pillowcase type dresses for Little Dresses for Africa. Information about them can be found on this board through the search feature or go to Nancy's Notions.com. I am using up my stash of seersucker and cottons I don't like anymore for them. They are easy to sew and provide a break from more intense projects. And, they are appreciated.

Or you could sell it on our classifieds section, maybe someone will be happy to purchase. Although I do like the idea of incorporating it into your quilt. We have all made shopping errors so dont feel bad.
