HSN just promo'd the Singer 160 Anniversary Edition machine and I ordered it! Now I need all of you that have it to tell me are you happy with yours or did I just make a big mistake!

momto5 09-20-2012 03:46 PM

I've heard they're good...but I have no experience with them myself...

Stitchnripper 09-20-2012 05:42 PM

It sure does look pretty :)
I hope you like it when it arrives.. if not, HSN has a pretty easy to deal with return policy ;)

I've had mine for 6 months and love, love, love it. It is a good heavy duty machine.

marymay 09-22-2012 03:08 AM

I do hope you got a good price as Amazon.com has one and it was a really good price.......

georgiaclark 09-22-2012 04:11 AM

Congratulations! You got something you wanted; don't look for disapproval, or discouragement. Just be happy that you have a new toy, and most of all, have fun sewing with your new machine.

Beautiful Machine. One on ebay for $209.06 with free shipping - sounds tempting.

I purchased mine on HSN when they first debuted it back in January and mine came with a ton of extra things including a very nice red bag with the letter S on it. Back in January it sold for $379.99 with all of the extras. I was just wondering if HSN is selling the same package now and what was the price you paid for yours. Just curious. Also, I will tell you that I truly love this machine. I do wish it had the needle down position because I am mostly a quilter and this would be a very nice feature. However, I don't believe it is sold as a quilting machine so that is probably the reason it doesn't have the needle down position. Other than that I truly love this machine, especially the needle threader, very nice. I also have the Brother CS6000i and I have found that they are very much alike in many ways and I can use all of my Brother feet on this Singer so that is another plus for me. I don't think you have made a big mistake in my opinion.

Good luck with your new sewing machine. I don't watch HSN...to tempting to get out that cc and order stuff!!!! I was curious so I looked up the Singer on Amazon and HSN found HSN $10.00 cheaper....but I then looked up the Brother someone else mentioned and that machine is almost $100 cheaper..and has mores stitches and up/down needle option...I was tempted to order that one(from Amazon). I have a BabyLock and this Brother looks a lot like BL but a whole lot cheaper......I am really tempted......

I bought one three weeks ago from my local JoAnn's. They were selling their black floor model and I paid $250.00. It's a beautiful machine, very sturdy. I've read lots of reviews where people say they are noisy. It's not any noisier than my Viking Sapphire 835. I mainly bought it because I thought it was adorable, and I couldn't pass up the price. I'm very happy with the machine. I think you will enjoy yours.

JoAnn's gold me they could not get any more of the black ones so now they are only selling the white ones.

QandE2010 09-22-2012 10:05 AM

It is a pretty machine and I have heard good reviews on it. But it doesn't really matter what anyone else says. The bottom line is, "Do YOU love it? Good luck and congrats on your new baby.

purplefiend 09-22-2012 11:18 AM

The Singer 160 isn't as wonderful as the company would have you believe it is; too much plastic. Singers that are from the 50s and 60s(and older) are much better machines and will still be sewing when your kids are grandparents. I enjoy sewing with Singers that are all metal and most of the ones I own are older than I am. Okay getting off my soapbox.

I think it looks nice too. Good for you! If you keep it long enough...it will be another "vintage" machine eventually.

I watched the video on HSN. Great you get all those extra feet etc.

nclauri 09-22-2012 01:06 PM

Off your topic - but I love the quilt in your avatar!

LoisM 09-22-2012 01:44 PM

I'm not in the market for a machine but I've been watching the HSN shows anyway. It looks like a great machine. I hope you love it!

crtwelvecats 09-22-2012 05:46 PM

I hope ypu enjoy your new machine. I was watching the show too and they did look nice, but I have 2 machines already and needed another serger so I opted for the singer serger 4-3-2. I love it. I love watching the demos when they do sewing shows.

deedum 09-23-2012 02:23 PM

I think they are soooo cool! I teter back and forth on buying one. I hope you enjoy it, it really matters what you think the most!

girliegirl 09-23-2012 02:26 PM
