I want to make a couple of round quilted table clothes! Help plz
 

I want to make 2 round table clothes for my children. I haven't had much luck finding something suitable for a pattern on the internet. I want it reversable, so I can get dark green on the back side for card playing :)
Would this work? Make the quilt top about 75 x 75 inches and then use a round table cloth for the backin-g I would use likely Warm and Natural for the batting. Then FMQ it and then bind it? I am leaning towards something simple for the pattern - Wickedly Easy, Trip Aound the World. I thought with the wasted quilted part I could make coasters. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a good idea.

A big dresden plate comes to mind -- just make the strata and cut. Your strata would need to be about 38" wide. I did a 60" Christmas Tree skirt without a slit (DDs orders) this way -- I cut varying width strips and used 2 different strata (I did not want to deal with matching seams so the width of strips was different for each strata). I would make the strips of the strata for a table cloth kind of wide so you can put glasses on it without wobbling on the seams.

I have not been able to find large round cotton table cloths, so if the back you use is polyester make sure to tell them to protect the table cloth when setting hot things on it. Warm and natural should work well for batting since it is all cotton it will work with hot things and it is pretty thin so you can set glasses on it.

I need to make a large round protective cloth for my son, too. Wish I had the sense to measure the table when I was there for Christmas! He has one of those tables where the "leaves" fit around the outside of the circle to make it larger; really neat. If I could figure out the inside circle I could protect just that, but if I misjudge it will intrude on "plate space". Maybe my DIL will help me out...

Doesn't Cheryl Phillips have a no corner quilt & I think the Kumiko Sudo has one as well - think it is CIRCLE??

What about "quilts without corners?" It's a BIG 10 degree dresden plate- type ruler, and someone's brother recently posted a picture of one he did on this board.

you probably don't want batting in a tablecloth...usually there is a piece of flannel at the very most, but if you're using green felt for the cards on the back you don't need that. any mariner's compass, plate, large flower, will do on a round format...start surfing the net for round patterns...

How about a round whole cloth. The Stencil Co has some stencils that make 42" round pieces.
