I Wasn't Thinking!!
I just started doing FMQ on a panel of fabric this morning. The fabric is darker colors, browns, tans, rose, wine colors, black edging around each square, medium greens, purple, dark orange. I used white thread for the quilting and it completely takes away from the fabric! There are 20 squares and I'll have to rip out 3 so I didn't get that far.
What would be a good color thread to use? It's a wall hanging with a muslin back. Would black be good or bad? |
When faced with this kind of dilemma, I usually resort to invisible thread.

A dark red would be nice.

I use a gray maybe, but first I'd unroll the thread to lay on the top to see which would color would look best.
|
I agree with puddling the thread on top and bottom of quilt to see how it is going to look.

At least you figured it out only three squares in.
How about a silk in a medium brown. Definitely audition it on the top first to see if it will blend. Cheers, K |

Golden or tan might be real nice on these colors if you don't want the thread to stand out to much. Post a pic! peace
