Ideas for hanging Work in Progress quilts to photograph?
 

I'm keeping detailed notes in the computer on how I made my quilts (hoping my granddaughter will love to have this info when she grows up!). Taking photos of the smaller pieces is no problem with the flannel board or just laying flat on the cutting mat. But once it gets over a yard wide I start having problems with my space constrictions. My sewing room has "barn" walls on two sides and 8' walls where the door and the window are. I'm stumped as to how to display these quilts so I can get a good photo. For blocks not sewn together yet, I end up laying them on a clean sheet on a bed and take pics to see if I like the placements but those aren't very good either even standing on a stool. Your ideas would be so appreciated! Thanks!

I hang bigger pieces on the wall with tacks through the seam allowance so it doesn't pull on the fabrics....Sometimes I am covering up a doorway or window....whatever it takes to get it up so I can get a pic!

My living room floor seems to get used for that purpose pretty often

i'm like mom-6... i put it on the floor and stand on a high step stool [or sometimes a table] to snap the photo.

Jim bought me a simple thin curtain rod and attached it to the ceiling with pieces of wire hangers. I use the black clips to hold the top and snap away.

I have also done this too.

I push pin it onto my foam board design wall.

You could put push pins in the wall and then use binder clips to clip to the quilt top and hang over the push pins.

I put 4 Command Strip hooks on double doors to my laundry area and hung the Banker/binder clips on them. I can put a small piece using 2 clips or larger with all 4. I am 6' tall, so I hung them at the very top of the door and I can reach them easily. The hooks double for hanging formals when I do alterations!

Hang on a clothesline outside.
