My best friend and I are considering going into business together selling precut quilt blocks such as charm packs, jelly rolls, turnovers, layer cakes and other such kits. We are also considering doing the rag quilt blocks in the 8" size. If we were to do this, how many of ya'll would consider buying what kinda precut blocks? We could do various size blocks and triangles and rectangles. This post is just to get an idea of the interest that would be out there for our little business and if we go for it I'll certainly post in the correct section of the board.
An example of our stuff is that I cut almost 100 6" blocks yesterday in about 30 minutes of actual cutting time. My friend bought the AccuQuilt go and as soon as I can afford one I am going to buy one as well.

I have an Accuquilt Go! myself, so probably would not be interested in buying pre-cut kits.

I have in the past purchased pre-cut quilt kits for my sister (the older JoAnn's Fabrics type) off eBay and might consider that again. However, it would need to be a complete kit with instructions, borders,etc.

Are you planning to sell complete quilt kits? Or just sets of individual blocks? Have you checked out eBay to see what your competition would be? I have noticed several sellers offering this type of thing. The Yahoo! group for Accuquilt users also has a swap section for people who have different dies and want to swap shapes.

I would be concerned that the Go! dies might wear out from production cutting. Quilting shops usually purchase the Studio setup.

I usually don't buy pre cut kits. I get the ones with the fabric and I cut it myself. I do like jelly rolls though.

I would not buy anything precut... just never have, never will - maybe shapes other than the ones I can do myself i.e. bears, hearts, butterflies, etc.

A lot of people on e-bay are selling them. It might be worth a look at the completed listings to see what they actually are selling for and if it would be worthwhile. I bought a batch of charms a few years ago, but they never seem big enough to do anything with.

I like strip piecing, then cutting, so starting out with smaller pieces actually takes longer, I find.

I also pre-wash everything I buy, and do not know if I would trust pre-cuts not to shrink or run.

I've never bought a kit. The only time I've ever used a kit that someone else cut was from the "Quilts from Kids" program. And I had to re-cut because the squares weren't square so I'm not really a fan of precuts.

I might consider it if they were in fabric groupings that I was interested in. Be careful about calling them jelly rolls, turnovers, etc. I think those names have been trademarked. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

I also prewash all my fabric so I don't purchase pre-cuts. They do seem to be very popular though.

I like to cut my own fabric and I always prewash my fabric before I cut it.
