Tomorrow I'm off to the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham UK, and have been thinking vaguely that I must find some fabric to make a lap quilt for my Mum, using green/blues, terracotta and cream colours, which will match her decor. Of course I now can't find a single pattern that's inspiring me! Can anyone suggest a favourite that would make the most of these wonderful colours? No applique please and no curves, but happy to do most other techniques. I have about 12 hours to make my mind up and write my shopping list!

split rail works up fast

Clotilde catalogue has a pattern called marmalade and jam that is basically a contemporary sampler done in batiks that would be very pretty in those colors.

I would try spending an hour or two on Quilters Cache looking at block patterns to help me decide. I also like to look at books.

I like trip around the world for a fast, fun strip quilt.

The quilt doesn't have to made quickly - I just need to decide on a pattern before I go shopping at the show tomorrow.

Trip around the world is still good and can accommodate as few or as many colors/patterns/solids as you wish.
