I'm a klutzy friend-accuquilt studio die tray

I was using my friend studio cutter today at our group's sewing day while chatting and didn't have the 2.5" strip die completely inside the tray as I started rolling it through. It got a little over 1/2 way when it jammed up. At
first I thought I had too many layers and tried pushing it through. Not the thing to do. When it wouldn't go anywhere I found that it was the die placement

Her dh went home to get his hex wrench set and took it apart. The cutter still works but the larger metal tray is bent on one end. I told her I'd buy her another one, she said she'd check it out later after she got back home.

I'll give her the money to replace it if it can't be used or fixed. I checked online to see how much it was... I was all worried that since it was metal it was going to be $100 or more, but I just checked an it's only $45. I'll dip into my Black Friday money. (I save up all year for my fabric splurge.) It will teach me to pay attention instead of talking.

Has anyone bent their metal tray? Does it still work if it's bent on on end?

I'm more annoyed with myself. She trusted me to be the main cutter today because I'm usually so
careful and have used it many times before safely.

Bummer. I hate when I do mess up something and it isn't mine.

wow, expensive lesson.

Oops. I also dislike messing up something that isn't mine - it's embarrassing!!!

I'm not happy with messing up my things, either - but it seems worse when it's someone else's stuff.

I have done that twice!!! and had to buy new trays. My husband was great about taking it apart for me....thankfully it was fixable and did not ruin the dies. It will work bent but not very well...you have to use it on the same side each time...which means you have to pick it up and turn it after every use. I think its AWESOME that you are replacing it...its not free shipping unless you spend 100.00 so she may want to buy another die with the order for free shipping.

I've never bent the tray in my Studio. I didn't know it was possible really! Check on ebay too. Sometimes people sell used dies and trays there...

unfortunately it is possible to bend them...but only if you aren't paying attention. If you make sure the die is seated properly in the tray it's not a problem.

I am so sorry for you, don't be to hard on yourself. I hate when I do something like that.
