The star is on the cover of Threads magazine for June/July 1994. It has a hexagonal (6 sided) center and double star points. The article is titled "Quilting with Novelty Prints" by Shannon Rettig. There is no mention in the article as to the name of the quilt, where it is from .... it is just a cool looking wonky star. I tried looking Ms. Rettig up on-line and found a reference to her as a "master quilter" but nothing else.

I couldn't find exactly what you are looking for, but there area few websites that have some that are close. www.shopfonsandporter.com/pinwheel-star. They have a book called Love of Quilting - Pinwheel Star Then at www.quiltinaday.com/freepattern/ has a pattern called Leah's Star. alexandersonquilts.com/blockparty/ has a star pattern called "Laced Star".
