I'm going to try paper piecing today. I printed out the teaching template from quilter's cache and read and reread the tutes posted on the board. I have to make a casserole cover and if this works and I like it, I'll use the SIAS pp tute as a decorative add on to the casserole cover.
I'm really nervous because I'm making this very important project and some of the blocks in it are paper piecing. They don't have teeny tiny points or anything like that, I'm even sure most of them could be done without the paper, but I really want to know how to do it....build my skills. I've printed out all my templates and made sure they are all the right size. Maybe by the end of this weekend I'll have some PP blocks to add to my sampler. |
I can't wait to see it! I just tried it too, so I know if I can do it, anyone can!

Can you practice with scraps first? That will help build your confidence! Once you do a few pieces, you should get the hang of it. :)
|
Try a sample with fabrics from you stash first. You will love it once you get going. Best of luck today and can not wait to see a pic of it when it is done.
|
Go to town. Once you figure it out it's easy peasy. It just takes practice and getting your brain "wrapped around" what you're doing!!
|
good luck!!!

We will be he for you if you need help.... You go Girl.

WooHoo!!! You will love being able to add this technique to your repertoire :D:D:D

THe most important part with the pp is to MAKE SURE your pieces of fabric are larger than the pattern piece you want to cover. Also, MAKE SURE you turn the fabric in the right direction (fabric sides together) when sewing your pieces. (Ask me why I make a point of this)
PP is so precise - you'll do great. Nothing to be scared of. |
Go for it. Even if the pattern has tiny points, don't be fearful. That is the beauty of PP, really tiny detailed patterns are possible. You're going to get hooked!
