ink and pencil problems ...
I recently made a cute little quilt a peace quilt and free motion sewed flower designs on it but to see the designs i had stupidly used pencil at first then on blocks i couldn't see used a ink pen to mark my design ....I definately am learning alot of do's and don't to quilting lol ... I have been treating the blocks with shout, oxy clean, rubbing alchol, and tried hair spray... slowing it is comming out . so have any of you ever done this and how did you solve your problem ?

grandmas spot removal gets ink out

I use the tide spot remover for pencil marks and machine oil, don't knoww about ink though!!!!

when the quilt is actually washed in a washer with detergent the pencil should wash right out- as for the ink- that ones a bit more difficult. grandma's spot remover is about the only thing i know of that might-
always test what ever you are planning to use to mark a quilt- even if it came out of the last one---always test pencil and chalk are usually the easiest- but there are lots of special marking tools out there- ones that disappear with water, with air, with heat (others set with heat- or water----always read the instructions for the tool you choose---and again---test) |

putting ink on top of pencil is part of the problem...when you combine them, they are pretty much permanent... good luck...i hear Grandma's is pretty good and I have had good luck with Oxyclean and Whink, though not with this particular combination stain...

Hairspray will remove ball point ink but not sure if it will work if the item has been washed
