insulbrite- which is the shiny side??

I can't tell which is the shiny side of the insulbrite...both sides look shiny. I am wondering how it is wrapped around the bolt...if the shiny side is on the outside of the wrap or on the inside of the wrap. You know like fabric has the good side out. If I knew this, then I could differentiate. Anybody know?

You asked what I have been wondering too. Will wait to see answer.

I need to know too. IF they look the same perhaps either side, hope someone shows up that knows:o

Just finished two projects with insubrite and never did figure that one out. Guess we're in good company.

Ya'll got me worried, does it matter which side you use?

Cybrarian 11-06-2011 06:46 PM

Well I bought some but haven't used it yet. We're all reading this because we need to know if there is a difference. Hope someone who knows takes pity on us and shows up to tell us! :-)

I sure hope not---I have made many a potholder with it and never paid attention which was "shinny". Never had any problem with it.

One side has more silver and should be facing the heat source to reflect it back. Another way is too look at a cut edge -- the silver is closer to one side and the other side has more regular type fleece.

pretty much you should NOT be seeing the shiney side...BUT if you look at the cut edge, you can see in the layering process where the mylar is. THe side where the mylar is closest is the side you want to the heat source!
