OK, I ordered the Red Barn pattern from the Cynthia England website, since I want to try making the picture pieced wall hanging that Winona posted yesterday. In watching the tutorial video, Cynthia England recommends using a flat plate dry iron (without steam holes) to press the freezer paper onto the fabric. Any suggestions where I might find an inexpensive iron of this type?

Check for travel irons. Some of them do not have steam. :-D

I got mine at a flea market for $2.

Vermont Country Store has dry irons.

good choice :-)

Into the class nearly nobody has had such an iron. Nearly all of the participants used her normal iron and switched the steam funktion out. It works as well...

But it is good to have an small ironing board beside your sewing machine. Thats much comfortable for working.

I believe that JoAnns has a electric flat iron for quilting. Its just has a very small head on the end. I also think Keepsake has it.

I do a lot of fusible and freezer paper... I switch off my steam and make sure that I lightly move my iron around so that the vent holes aren't in the same place for very long and haven't had any problems at all

Home Depot sells the flat no hole iron on their website. It isn't in any of the stores that I have been too. $27

Thanks, everyone, for your helpful suggestions. I think the iron at Home Depot might fit the bill, though I was hoping to find something a bit smaller ...... more like the one she uses in her video. I think I'll keep my eye open, knowing that I can order this one online if nothing else turns up.
