I am a fairly new quilter, I am anoyed that the auto shutoff is on my iron. I would like one that would stay on while I am working. Does anyone know of a brand where you can deactivate auto shut off???

i agree with you,I hate when mine does that.

There are a couple.... try google. Sunbeam, Rowenta, Sharp... I think a few others. Check with a quilt shoppe too. Their members might have some good advice...

I don't like the way mine does that either although I know its a saftey feature and I appreciate that BUT, when mine shuts off.I unplug it and replug it to solve the problem

Some of the really cheap ones don't have this feature. Check Wal Mart. My old, old Black and Decker doesn't have it and is my favorite iron. Much better to quilt with than my expensive Rowenta.

There are a couple of new ones I saw in Nancy's Notions that have a bypass or a 30 minute shut off. They were fairly expensive like anything new is though. Mine shuts off but comes on immediately and heats really quickly if I just turn it like I was going to press something and then sit is upright. It is a Panasonic I bought at Wal-Mart a couple of years ago.

I just bought a Reliable V100. With it you can bypass the auto shut-off. I like having the option.

Yeah I'd like to trade mine in on one that stays on for 30 minutes. Everytime I'm ready to iron I have to wait for it to get hot again. Now if I have one that doesn't shut off at all I'd leave it on everytime I left the sewing room.

Welcome to the board from Southern California!!!!
I bought a Digital Velocity Iron. There is a way to shut off the Auto Shutoff each time you use the iron. It is really expensive though. |
