Yesterday my DH came home with some really nice boards he got as "scraps" from a local cabinet shop. I have seen some ironing board extenders that make ironing lengths of fabric so much easier. Does anyone know how to make the extenders or at least the dimensions so he can make one for me?

TIA,
Gracie

Here's a site that someone made their own.

My hubby made one for me. He cut boards to the size of 24x48 inches and rounded the corners. I covered it with batting and then mattress ticking which I stapled to the board. So far it works great and makes ironing fabric much better.

Because my hubby uses the ironing board almost every work day, he needs the tapered end. I thought after I move I'll get some plywood, cover with batting and durable fabric that I can use on my cutting table.

At least that's my plan.

What about a removable top? Put on when you need it, take off when you don't.

It's just easier all the way around with him having to use the actual ironing board if I had my own separate set up. This will just sit on my table when needed and put away when I'm not using it.

Of course much depends on the space when we find another place.
