My little friend, Kaye, is in her 70's. She joined a group of friends from church and over the past year made a "block of the month" quilt from a free online pattern (http://www.blockcentral.com "Patchwork Panache") She called it her "Church Ladies" quilt, and it measures 108" x 108", a real accomplishment! She also told me that she has never really sewn much. (?!?) What a great way to learn to quilt ~ with sampler blocks and friends! This will truly be a treasure for her, and eventually for her family.

I freehand quilted some feathered vines and wreaths, roses, grids and curlicues. My girls added the binding for her, then little Mrs. Kaye took it right home and slept under her beautiful creation! I'm so proud of her!

Mrs. Kay made a 108" quilt? She is not so "little" - and she did an awesome job! Please wish her a happy and healthy new year from me, and many more beautiful quilts.

great story, great quilt and great quilting. She did such a great job and so did you on the quilting. I don't blame her for going home and sleeping under it right away, she deserves to sleep under it.

Wonderful quilt and even better back story with it. She did a beautiful job and her colors are beautiful. Your quilting made it fabulous; highlighting and emphasizing without stealing the show. Well done and thanks for sharing such an uplifting story.
