Janome 15000
 

I am considering upgrading to a Janome 15000 and when I talked to a dealer yesterday she told me Janome was coming out with an updated version. Anyone know anything about what changes they might be making? Would also love to hear from some of you who have the 15000 and your pros and cons. I currently have a 6600 and wonder if I should just get a 350E. Any thoughts?

I have the 12000 which had one previous owner, 70+ yr old used it once and returned it to the dealer as she found it too complicated. I'm not particularly tech minded but I've sussed the machine out though of course there's heaps I haven't had any need to use. When I got this one from the dealer he said the most notable distinction between the two machines was the ability to use wifi for iPad. That would definitely be a boost since no trailing wires to contend with. I guess also part of your decision has to be whether you want a separate embroidery machine as it can be a bit frustrating waiting for embroidery to be completed when you would like to get on with something else. I'd've been tempted by the 15000 but with £1000 off I just felt I couldn't turn down the opportunity to own this one. Good luck in your choice I'm sure you won't regret it.

I have a 6600 and the 300e. I prefer this set up because I don't have to change anything on my sewing machine to embroider and vice versa. Also I don't have to find space for the embroidery unit then try to find it when I need it. Also, I can set up an embroidery and then sew while embroidery is doing it's thing.

The embroidery unit just sits at the back of the machine. Basically one switch to unlock it and swing it out. Its really something that takes seconds to do. Same process but in reverse to close it and switch to ordinary sewing mode. I would've gone for two units if the process had been too scuttery. 12000 and 15000 the same as far as that goes

I have a 6600 and the 350e. When I bought them (3+ years ago), I considered getting a combination machine, but, like crashnquilt, I like the ability to sew while the 350e is embroidering. Plus, the embroidery machine is always ready, without setting up the sewing machine to embroider.

I recently had the 6600 in the shop for a routine cleaning, and the owner (who has been repairing sewing machine for almost 30 years) told me that everyone raves about their 6600...but he gets a lot of complaints about the more expensive machines.

If I had it to do over, I would again buy the 6600 and 350e! They are both wonderful machines!

keep in mind, that ipad etc. compatibility will be short lived. That sort of technology is why in the last 10 years or so the makers keep coming out with updated machines so often. So I wouldn't make a purchase based on technology at all, but on what you need a machine to do.

I have looked and dreamed and looked and dreamed. But the reality is my machine has some fancy stitches, I don't use them. I only use the straight and zig zag. Maybe a buttonhole every blue moon. My embroidery machine is perfectly adequate for what I do and I have an old black machine I quilt on. I can see me getting a Baileys or a Homesteader one day, but I know if I got the machine of my dreams, I still would not be using it to its fullest.

I've had the 15000 for a couple of months. It was not a planned purchase, but a nice (really nice) gift from my husband. I have found many great bells and whistles I didn't expect such as warning when the bobbin is low or when the top thread is out, the presser foot that will lift when you stop sewing (needle down -great for pivoting), wonderful lighting, magnifying glass in front of the needle,beautiful stitching. I could go on and on.

I have a big learning curve for the embroidery, but I will learn. I plan to use this machine for quilting.

I won't lie, the 15000 is awesome and sooo quiet but I do prefer to sew while embroidering. So, if money is the issue,get the 350 or if you feel the same. Also, think about the rewards you would get with the 15000. Bigger hoops, editing on screen, or iPad. Very excited for you!

i am from Florida and working on getting a 2nd place in NC.

I have the 6600 and had the 350E but sold it for an 11,000 SE b/c I wanted to do bigger embroidering than I could do on the 350e. I love them both & have several friends that have these sane 2 machines.
