WHERE on ebay did you find 50 bobbins for $7.95? if it's a store that sells them regularly for that price, pretty please, do share the specific information. unless you buy 1,000 at a time, that's absolutely the best price i've ever seen for bobbins.

side note about the 6600: the little plastic part of the auto-threader is replaceable. my dealer showed me. if the little metal hook that pulls the thread through the needle ever gets bent out of shape, you can just replace that part and you'll be back in business. :-)

side note on needles: another good source for needles is jhittle.com. they sell the regular packs and in bulk.

What machine did you get? I'm picking up mine today (6600) and one of the questions for the dealer was what size the bobbin was. I really hope that they're 15's because I just went out and bought a bunch of them for my other machine!!

the good news is:

1. you now know where to NOT go for advice, parts and accessories.
2. the bobbins you bought will work, so you haven't lost anything.
3. the price you paid is about average according to my own personal search the last time i needed to buy bobbins. it's ridiculous ... outrageous, really ... but about average.

Question for you: I've been playing with all my stitches and some have eyelashes on the back. Now these are the preset stitches not free motion, any hints on how not to get these?

eyelashes usually indicate either a tension issue or a threading issue.

ask me how often i've put a bobbin in backward. i promise i'll lie and tell you "never". :lol:

are you sewing on just a single layer of fabric? on a test quilt sandwich? using the recommended foot and settings?

Thanks PatriceJ!!! Just went and checked out the machine and bobbin WAS in right so I played with my tension knob and atleast for this one stitch #66 the eyelashes are gone!!!!!!

check your manual for the correct settings for straight sewing then try it

i have the same machine and it's between 3 and 6 but closer to 3 on mine

I did not get a walking foot for this machine. Do I need one? I wasn't sure if the adjustable pressure on the pressure foot made it so you didn't need one -- although I know there's one out there. I have one for my little Kenmore, but I'm not sure if will work with the Janome. What do you think? I would love to have one either way (never hurts to have all the parts!).
