Does anyone know the difference in these two machines? The 8050 is on sale at Hancock's for $270.00 and the 2010 is at an authorized dealer for $450.00 (in my area). They seem very similar except for a couple of features. I guess my questions is, would you rather pay more from a dealer and get great service, or from a chain store and pay less with no service available? It seems like in my research, that's what it comes down to. Any feedback you could give me would be great.

I don't know anything about these two models, but I've owned a Janome 6600 for about 3 years, had a 6500 before that that I traded in - I really like my Janomes. I think they're really nice machines for the money. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Did you ever get one? I got the Janome 8050 last week and from what I can already tell I LOVE IT! I got it at Hancocks as well fr $270 I replaced my old Brother CS6000 and so far it's like a dream machine! The results looks so professional I dont even know how I was using the brother... I will have much better projects now! The Janome sews like a dream you can't go wrong :)

Buying from a dealer is the way I always go, but wannaquilt1 sounds like you don't need a dealer because they work so well. And the difference in price is $180. That's quite a bit of difference in price. I would try them both out and see which one you like more. See if one has more features than the other and if you need the extra features or if you can live without them. $180 could buy you a lot of fabric.
