I need to get a new operating manuel for my machine or at least find ou t where I should put oil. It seized up on me yesterday while I was trying to put together my double wedding ring quilt. Anyone that has a picture of the places to oil would sure be a big help.

I have Singer sewing machine model 3820. It does not tell me how to oil the machine in the manual. Do you have any information on this that me be helpful. Thank you Carolyn

Answer Dear Carolyn,

The rule of thumb is to oil all rubbing parts. The question is where are they- take the lid of the machine off and while turning the handwheel, look inside to find the rubbing parts. Oil them.

Thanks so much Ruth and Moonpi. I've written to them and we'll see what happens. I wrote to Janome earlier but haven't gotten an answer yet.

I did put in oil where I thought it should go and it's working pretty good now. Guess when all else fails....just do it.

Hmmmm, Maybe my theroy wasn't so good. I sewed about 4 blocks just fine then on the 5th she seized up again. Now I'm stuck and I have 3048 pieces to put together. Oh my now what will I do? My brother has a broken needle in it and so far my serger is working but this Janome is being a problem child.

I have a Janome Quilters Companion: and there is no where in the manual that is says to oil it .So if you can get in touch with your dealer they may be able to tell you something .Hope you get along ok.Wilma

Not getting along too good. It's totally froze up. My Brother has a broken needle in it and last night I bent something in my serger so it won't work either. Just my luck to be in the middle of the biggest quilt I've ever made and I need two of them and a baby quilt and no machine is working. Monday I have to go into Denver to the doctor so I'm taking two of the sewing machines in to a Sew and Vac store. They guy in there fixes all of them for $ 99 or less. Last time I had my serger in town with another guy he charged me $239. I about fainted. It was brand new but I flew it over from England in my suitcase and it got out of time. Not going to that guy again. Two people told me I was gyped by him.

Guess I'll just cut the pieces and the quilt smart peices too. It's a double wedding ring quilt.

Connie, there's only one place to oil a Janome. you take out the bobbin, take out the bobbin case and underneath the bobbin case - right in the middle, there's a small hole with what looks like a wick inside, it doesn't stick up, it's just flush with the surface- just put couple drops of oil right there and that's it. be sure and clean the lint out from under the bobbin case also. hope this helps you, donna

My dealer told me the same thing about oiling my machine .The spot under the bobbin ,looks like a little piece of felt.
Sounds like you may have a bigger problem than just needing oil .You may want to consult your dealer Wilma
