I'm going to visit my Mother on Thursday and will buy a Janome Jem to go with all my other Janomes. I'll also go to a quilt shop and they will help me with the 4 patch stacked posie pattern I can't figure out. So it will be a great trip, seeing Mother, 2 sisters, a new machine and have help folding and pining the fabric for this pattern. what a way to send a few days!

The four patch stacked posie is a very cool quilt...I had to read the directions slowly and several times, making sure I understood what they were saying....It's not hard, just lots of sewing!! Makes the coolest kalaidescope (spl) designs...all will be different....You will love it....

No they don't. It's more of a basic machine with some decorative stitches. The best part about the Jem line is that they are lightweight, which makes them perfect for taking to classes.

Which Jem are you getting? I have the Platinum, which is the 760. Last year they came out with the replacement for it, the 3160. The Platinum went for around $500 new. The new 3160 retails for around $800. Not sure if stores have any more Platinum's since they aren't making them anymore. Love mine!!! My friend Cheryl has the 3160 and she absolutely loves it. That one comes with a snap on table and has a cutter (the Platinum has neither).
