I've been considering the Sweet 16, so this is definitely something I'd consider. The pricing and options may make the difference. I don't have dealers for either company very close by and that's a factor too on how service will work.

This Baby Lock looks interesting. I may have to check with the store I bought my Brother from since they also carry Baby Lock.

I hope someone can find a price for the baby lock....the sweet 16 is 5 grand (way too much for me). I'll search around for the sunshine one and get a price on that. Keep me posted. Thanks

The Sunshine 16 in a free standing table runs $2,395 according to the website.

Janome dealers typically sell the Artistic 18 long arm quilting machine. From what I can find out the price is approx $7.499.00
Way out of my budget!! Chris |
I tried this sunshine machine last year at the show in Oaks, PA. It was not a bad machine. Hope they are there this year. I would like to try it again as I am wanting one.

I am also in the midarm quilting machine market. I had one on a frame that I never used.. then sold it.. then wished I hadn't sold it... now I'm looking around to see what I want to get. I would be curious to see how much the Babylock is going to go for. I tried out the Janome Horizon 7700 and didn't care for it I hate to say.
I also was looking in to a Sunshine 16 machine http://sunshine16.com/Home_Page.html It's not the prettiest machine in the world but it sounds like it would sew up a storm. They are about 3 1/2 hours away from me. I might go out there one day once I narrow down my options and take it for a test drive.... |
I mostly quilt on a Juki TL98QE, does not have the extension table. I bought one to use on it and it works great for me. It is straight stitch only, it is great because all I do is quilt on it. I have a small space and use it on dining table. Works for me and only about 700.00.
I hope you can get one, if you really want it. |

Sorry! I typed Janome and it should have been BabyLock. My dealer actually sells both brands and I have and love both brands. It is the BabyLock Tiara. Sorry for the confusion.
http://babylock.com/quilting/tiara/ On another note: if you are accustom to pushing your project thru and don't mind struggling with a large quilt, the Tiara or Sweet 16 will do fine. With a sit-down model, you are not driving the machine but driving the quilt. The upside, Handi Quilter introduced the True Stitcher (stitch regulator) earlier this year. It operates on wireless technology. Go to http://www.handiquilter.com/product/...een-trustitch/ to see more details. Hope this helps. |

That Sunshine machine looks very interesting. I wish they would make the HQ 16 sit-down machine just like that, with the little extension table that can sit on any table. The HQ as is being sold right now is out of my price range, too.
