Janome's new quilting machine

I have been looking for a quilting machine that will fit my space. Janome is bringing out a new model that is very much like the HQ Sweet 16. It is on their website, but no price of course. I am anxious to talk to my dealer and find out how far out of reach the price is. lol I have been looking at the HQ Sweet Sixteen, but I am happy to find that my local dealer will be selling the new Janome. I'm more comfortable buying from someone I know. I have been with the same dealer since 1969. I have bought a lot of machines from them over the years. The great part is that DH is the one that brought this machine to my attention. He had been surfing the net and discovered the new machine. I'm taking that as a good sign that the machine might be a possibility. lol I have been trying to convince DH that we don't need the sofa in the great room. That would be a great space for Janome Crown Jewel. Maybe he thinks the new Janome is a good compromise. lol Works for me! I'm not holding my breath, but maybe there is hope.

I hope you get one. My friend did and she really likes it. Good luck.

What is the model number? I can't find it on their website at all!

I just checked the Janome site and can't find a long arm on it. Also did a search for a Janome Long Arm and got nothing. So apparently it hasn't been released yet.

Keep us posted! I have had various brands of sewing machines - but must say Janome has been the best. I'd be interested in the model number too - not in a position to trade but would love to read about it.

I think we're mixing up two different machines. Janome just announced a new Horizon (the 8900) which is an upgrade to the 7700. The Horizon is a domestic sewing machine with an 11" throat. No word on pricing yet, but here's the press release: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/...012+MW20120830

They have had available for some time a true longarm - the Janome Artistic Quilter, available in 18" and 26". Here's a link to the 18" version: http://www.sewingmachinesplus.com/Ar...esticFrame.php. The 18" runs about $7500.

Hope this helps!

Sorry! I typed Janome and it should have been BabyLock. My dealer actually sells both brands and I have and love both brands. It is the BabyLock Tiara. Sorry for the confusion.

That looks identical to the sweet sixteen, down to the stitch regulator. I wonder if it is the same machine, rebranded?

Please consider what you will be doing most of the time with the machine and give a realistic trial run to the mchines you are considering. I have a Janome 1600P, which is straight stitch only and is a real work horse. I also have another Janome with fancy stitches. My dealer advises a straight stitch machine for use on a frame or for general FMQ work. He sells both brands but says the 1600P (QC) is the best for the workout I give my machines. I have been quilting since late 2000 and completed almost 500 quilts.

I am also in the midarm quilting machine market. I had one on a frame that I never used.. then sold it.. then wished I hadn't sold it... now I'm looking around to see what I want to get. I would be curious to see how much the Babylock is going to go for. I tried out the Janome Horizon 7700 and didn't care for it I hate to say.
I also was looking in to a Sunshine 16 machine http://sunshine16.com/Home_Page.html It's not the prettiest machine in the world but it sounds like it would sew up a storm. They are about 3 1/2 hours away from me. I might go out there one day once I narrow down my options and take it for a test drive....
