I just bought a jelly roll at walmart today, it's a little beat up (clearence section a little fraying on the ends) with no tag so I got it for $3 instead of the normal $10. There are 24 strips, 3 of each and when I picked it up I immediately thought baby quilt, but I don't want to just sew each strip together. Any ideas? I've never made and/or bought one of these before and there were no others like it that I could have bought 2 or another one to make the quilt bigger
not the best pictures, the end pink and yellow ones are a little brighter the most damaged of all of them which isn't really that bad considering is was buried under a bunch of not marked down fq in a clearance basket |
do you have a pic of the different fabrics?
|
yup. I thought the pics loaded but I guess they didn't.
|
I made some quilted baby blocks out that same line of charms. So pretty together.

google free jelly roll patterns. there are tons. Careful though before you start as most jelly rolls are 40 or 42 fabrics.

I just made a I-spy Rail fence baby quilt using twenty-four 2 1/2" strips. Mine looks busy but your fabric would work better then the scrappy look I went with. Your fabric would make a really cute baby quilt.

Very cute quilt. I have a couple of jelly rolls crying out for me to do something with them. Might do what you did. Thanks for showing the picture of it.

I'm finishing up a wonky bed runner that I made out of the clearance jelly roll I got at Walmart. I took 1 strip of each color and cut them so I had 2 strips, one 2" wide and one 1" wide. Than I sewed all the strips together in rows, alternating the colors and the strip sizes. Then I randomly cut in squares and rectangles and sewed them all together, deliberately not matching up any of the seams so it came out kind of wonky. Here it is, I just found the perfect backing for it so hope to finish it up in the next couple of weeks. It's pretty long, it's going on a King size bed.

I just made one last week using this pattern. Super easy! Took one afternoon for the whole thing. I'm going to do another one for a Christmas gift.
