As usual, I am late in hitting the sale that started over the past weekend but I am quite pleased with what I did bring home today. Clearence fabric for $2.50 a yard ( 50% off the sale price of $5.00 ) and I was able to get 6 to 8 yards of 6 different fabrics for quilt backings and then I was able to use a 50% off coupon for 4 yards of 108 inch backing fabric. I am set for awhile!!

You did great!!!

I was there today and walked out with thread! Never thought to just stock up on backing. YIKES. I might have to go back tomorrow.

since the fabric is the normal 42 or so, inches wide, you will need enough to piece together for a big quilt. I always try to get 9 but figure anything that is 6 yards of a continous length, will get me covered for most lap size quilts and if I need to piece a 3rd. fabric ( I love scrappy quilts...front and back! ) then in it goes to the mix!!
At 2.50 a yard....and this stuff is nice quality too.....you can't go wrong. It was orgionall 10.00 a yard, marked down to 5.00 a yard and with the 1/2 off the clearence fabrics.....it is stock up time!! Go back and take a look, you just might find treasures for the back of your next quilt....or quilts!! jodi |
I never see that kind of sale at my local Joann's. May in Jersey

You must have the Mother of all JoAnn's. Our store was remodeled last year & I've yet to find anything I want to use except batting.

We have the same discounts in our Joann's this week. I bought a nice flannel for $1.50 per yard and a beautiful quilting length for $2.00 per yard, not to mention the other calicos for $1.50 per yard. Great for our sewing ministry.....and me.

************* Go back in and ask the salegirls where the clearence fabrics are. Every JoAnns I've ever been in, has from a few dozen to a hundred or more bolts of fabric on clearence at any one time. When they run the 50% off the clearence prices, is when I stock up. i've been lucky enough to find entire lines of good stuff on the clearence racks. You might need to ask the sales clerk to actually ''walk'' you to the area but Im sure each JoAnns has a sale/clearence area. |
