When I was a young mother of five kids, struggling to make ends meet after my husband died, sewing was really more about the destination or end product. The clothes I made, the clothes I mended, the dolls I made and sold or made for my daughters birthday. Now days it's the journey. I like to sew, I like the handwork part (which is why I hand quilt).

I think it is both. Sometimes it is the journey when I have something I really love. Piecing is so rewarding. But sometimes it is the destination when I am making my QOV or PL or donations to the Guild. Both are good feelings.

For me it is a combination. I quilt for my own pleasure and enjoy the process, but then again, when something is done, that is satisfying too.

I quilt because I am a quiltaholic, seriously. But I also enjoy the journey and the destination when I take my donation quilts to Project Linus. What a blessing. I also enjoy sharing my quilt tops with other board members who do charity work. I love seeing how they finish them out. Redgarnet222 does awesome work with the embroider squares I send her. So glad you are enjoying the journey now. I am a hand quilter too and it is os rewarding. *H*U*G*S*

I am about the journey my DH is all about the destination

Sometimes it takes a long time for the destination to be part of the journey. Does that make sense. I used to make a lot of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. My grandson who is 26 recently told me that his beloved "buddy" (what he nameed him) is still part of his life and much loved. I made him 25 years ago.

i also made my own and children's clothes out of necessity and sewed forever with the destination in mind. now that i have set aside the stacks of mending and submerged myself into quilting i find the journey is much more what speaks to my soul...probably part of the reason why i have so many UFO's...when the end is in site i can not seem to finish- i set aside and start a new journey.

I am pretty much a journey kind of person.

I think it is both in quilting and in life. We used to have to hurry through things when we were both working and raising our sons. Now we can relax and make the journey as important as the destination. Now we go on day trips to enjoy the journey and our destination is home and our own bed at the end of an enjoyable day. :)
