I have a juki med. industrial machine. (ddl 5530) I have a problem with the upper thread snapping and breaking as soon as I accelerate speed. Any advice greatly appreciated.
I have to add that I have tried changing thread, needles, tension, nothing is working where the machine ran perfect before. Donna |
Did you see the recent video on the Superior Thread website. They talked about not just changing your needle, but usiing a topstitch needle. A great video and he explains why thread breaks. I don't have the link but just go to the superior Threads blog, and i'm sure you'll find it.

I'll look for it!

Have you changed threads???maybe the one you are using is not up to par...test the thread .

check for lint build up in the bobbin case and if your model takes oil, put a few drops into the oil holes. My TL98Q was doing that exact same thing. A good cleaning and oiling stopped the breakage problem.

There may be a tiny nick in one of the thread guides. Get a magnifying glass and a good light and give every thread guide from spool to needle a good look.

Also triple check the thread path - then check it again - it's usually something really stupid like a thread wrapped around something.... I use a thread stand and you'd be amazed at how the thread can manage to tangle itself sometimes - and not be obvious about it LOL
Then make sure the bobbin is threaded correctly - and theeeeeeeeen make sure you are holding your mouth right... |
