Scrappy Quilt?? I see this term used often, have looked at pictures and am not sure just what categorizes a "scrappy quilt"

Typically they are made out of scraps, not yardage :D:D:D

They are usually (but not always) a multi-colored mix of scrap pieces put together to make a quilt.

Here's an example of one I did with leftover pieces

There are probably several definitions and interpretations of the term "scrappy". This category can be further broken down into random scrappy (every colour, any design) or planned scrappy (selected colour scheme with several different fabrics in each colour) with variations of these two possibilities. Sometimes the quilter will use the same background but use many different fabrics and colours to create the blocks. Scrappy to me means using up the leftovers from my quilts and adding some of the small bits and pieces that I got in the bag of fabric at the church rummage sale. Some of my quilts have dozens of different pieces while others may be six different greens, four browns and two yellows with one background. It's just up to the quilter and available fabric.

a scrappy quilt is made from many, many different fabrics (scraps) instead of a 'collection' of coordinating fabrics. lots of times made from (scraps) but not necessarily...i've seen turning 20's considered scrappy because the fabrics did not (belong) to each other, but were all ... scrappy
scrap quilts are often made using (value) instead of color. there are planned scrappy...where a person is using her scraps but trying to (plan) the color-design components...or there are quilts like 1000 peramids that is made with 1000 triangles (sometimes all different)
there are some pretty good books out that deals with scrap quilting, one that comes to mind is...
