Just figured

I just realized that any pattern could actually be used as a scrap quilt, not necessarily those only designated as one. Such tunnel vision. lol

I have turned some patterns into a scrappy quilt, just by using fabric scraps I have on hand. Any pattern could be made from scraps. some would look better than others.

So often Value is really more important than color, print, etc. I learn something new everyday. Love the Quilt Board:)

I am working on a scrappy right now and I gave myself total freedom. I started sewing strips of fabric scraps on 3" cashier tape and then cutting it to size for a pattern. It is looking good and insane at the same time. LOL

It's crazy how we become our own quilt police when we are creating our quilts. We forget sometimes to have fun and that anything goes. And the only rules we need to remember are to keep fingers from needles and rotary cutters double check that measurement before we cut and the most important rule, relax and have fun.

Absolutely true! I have a friend who is not a quilter but likes to tag along to quilt shops and quilt shows. She will find a pattern and more times than not, she is drawn to the fabrics used in the pattern, not the pattern itself. I have seen her pick out 2 identical quilt patterns and not know they are the same pattern because they have been made with different fabrics. I have tried to explain to her that the pattern picture is just a suggestion but she doesn't have that creative license thing. . . Oh, well. She is great company and appreciates everything I have made for her and others! She's my biggest fan!

I don't think I have ever made a quilt using the color pallette in the picture.
