I found it.

NewsletterBot (NLB) was not a real person. It was a fake account used to post generic questions.

We got more than a little irritated when we found out we'd been jumping through hoops trying to help somebody who didn't exist.

The account was ... "retired".

i joined the board 3 days after it went live on the internet. i don't know how many of us are left who signed up that long ago. i know kathy and K_jupiter have been around since then. also ceannastahr, mimisharon, Celeste ... and others, i'm sure. maybe they will find this and identify themselves. :-)

we've been moved to new servers two or three times. the first time we were moved, a lot of posts were lost. it might not look that way now, but we were busy from the beginning. we'd spend hours on end laughing until our faces hurt.

maybe someday i'll tell you the story of Tim's Toe. ;-)

Thanks for the info, Patrice ... so who started it? and what was their motivation? Was it linked at some point to a business? or?

And who "owns" it now? I've seen some references about the changes in ownership/management ... and so, am curious!

Regardless ... it's a great place to hang out, and I've learned SO much in my short time. And look forward to the future! Thank you, everyone! :)

As for the Tim's Toe story ... no time better, than the present!!!! :)

trying to document our history - even in broad and sketchy terms - will take a while. we are a long story. much of it cannot be told. you just had to be there to understand and appreciate it.

i will definitely add it to my "to do" list, though. i think it's a great idea. i just can't do it today.

i'm still looking for Tim's toe. if i find it, all will be revealed.

I joined in 2007 but must have forgotten. Because I tried to join again last year (after rediscovering the board) and discovered that I had an account. Once I got logged in I was shocked that not only had I been a member for a few years, but I posted a few times and sent a pm or two back then.

Very good to know! Glad the Board is here!

I've been around since Jan 07. There were only a handful of us when the board first started.

Come on Patrice....Tim's toe??

Once upon a time, I felt like I "knew" most of the people here. Now it's like the city has grown up around me and it's no longer a small town. Surprise!! As a frequent reader but less frequent poster, I've learned a lot from folks here, and stay inspired to keep quilting. Konstantin told his story, but I can't find it anymore. I remember it really touched me. I'm glad he's happily married, now.
