just wondering who was the very first person to post on this board without going back to the beginning of all posts
?????????

Up North 05-04-2011 01:03 PM

Probably Konstantine who owned the board back then.

sueisallaboutquilts 05-04-2011 01:04 PM

Amma, was it you???? :D

bluteddi 05-04-2011 01:07 PM

certainly not me

SueDor 05-04-2011 01:07 PM

I wanted to know that also!

AlwaysQuilting 05-04-2011 01:10 PM

What an interesting question. I'll be watching for the answer.

As a relative Newbie ... I'd appreciate knowing a little more about the history of the Board.

When did it start?
Why?
Who instigated it?
Changes over the years?

Who manages it now? and covers the costs?

And MUCH more!

Maybe Patrice will find this and add some of her wisdom.

ptquilts 05-04-2011 01:15 PM

it was NewsletterBot back in Nov. of 2006, as far as I can tell. Just go to the last page of Main.

The sad thing is, check out the user ids on some of the older posts - the users are no longer active. Does that mean all of us will drift away from the QB some day?

Maride 05-04-2011 01:30 PM

I have been a member here since 2008 and have seen many members come, make a lot of noise, get attention, start trouble, and then disappear. Others get sick, move on to other things, and some remain here always. Everything gets old and we find something else somewhere else that gets more attention. I myself have been member on another boards where I eventually stop going. Just enjoy your time here and don't worry if you will be here a couple of years down the road. Is part of growing up.

patricej 05-04-2011 01:47 PM

I found it.

NewsletterBot (NLB) was not a real person. It was a fake account used to post generic questions.

We got more than a little irritated when we found out we'd been jumping through hoops trying to help somebody who didn't exist.

The account was ... "retired".

i joined the board 3 days after it went live on the internet. i don't know how many of us are left who signed up that long ago. i know kathy and K_jupiter have been around since then. also ceannastahr, mimisharon, Celeste ... and others, i'm sure. maybe they will find this and identify themselves. :-)

we've been moved to new servers two or three times. the first time we were moved, a lot of posts were lost. it might not look that way now, but we were busy from the beginning. we'd spend hours on end laughing until our faces hurt.

maybe someday i'll tell you the story of Tim's Toe. ;-)

QuiltE 05-04-2011 02:13 PM

Thanks for the info, Patrice ... so who started it? and what was their motivation? Was it linked at some point to a business? or?

And who "owns" it now? I've seen some references about the changes in ownership/management ... and so, am curious!

Regardless ... it's a great place to hang out, and I've learned SO much in my short time. And look forward to the future! Thank you, everyone! :)

As for the Tim's Toe story ... no time better, than the present!!!! :)

cool thread!

patricej 05-05-2011 12:37 AM

trying to document our history - even in broad and sketchy terms - will take a while. we are a long story. much of it cannot be told. you just had to be there to understand and appreciate it.

i will definitely add it to my "to do" list, though. i think it's a great idea. i just can't do it today.

i'm still looking for Tim's toe. if i find it, all will be revealed.

I joined in 2007 but must have forgotten. Because I tried to join again last year (after rediscovering the board) and discovered that I had an account. Once I got logged in I was shocked that not only had I been a member for a few years, but I posted a few times and sent a pm or two back then.

Very good to know! Glad the Board is here!

tlrnhi 05-05-2011 08:15 PM

I've been around since Jan 07. There were only a handful of us when the board first started.

Come on Patrice....Tim's toe??

b.zang 05-05-2011 08:21 PM

Once upon a time, I felt like I "knew" most of the people here. Now it's like the city has grown up around me and it's no longer a small town. Surprise!! As a frequent reader but less frequent poster, I've learned a lot from folks here, and stay inspired to keep quilting. Konstantin told his story, but I can't find it anymore. I remember it really touched me. I'm glad he's happily married, now.

phatquilts2 05-06-2011 02:41 PM

definitely will be following this post to find about herstory of the Q.Forum.....Tim's Toe :?: :D
