When you make landscape quilts, do you prefer to use batiks, or "regular" cotton prints?

I use whatever fabric that I can find that has the right color/print/texture that I need. Quite often it will be a batik over a regular cotton print :D:D:D

I like using batiks, it provides color variations and give a more realistic look to the picture. Flower, trees and animals are not a solid color but a variations of shades and tints of colors that blend.

I use every kind of fabric - even old tights (panty hose) have found there way into my landscapes. Oh, and drier lint! LOL

I'm guessing the panty hose are used like tuille, chiffon and organza?

I used a piece of black nylon to put a shadow effect on a dark purple for a heathery patch on my wall hanging here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-75461-1.htm you can see it here in the second picture. I just laid the piece on and FMQd it in place.
I used the drier lint to make clouds on a recent wall hanging that I haven't posted on here yet... reminds me, I'll do that now! :D

watched sewing with Nancy a week ago.. she was GREAT. An author of the book "landscape quilts" was on..
that author uses EVERYTHING! she cuts pieces of fabric out of the oddest fabrics and she gets stones, grasses, clusters of flowers ect.. even tree trunks out of oddest looking fabric. I don't think she cares.. her landscape quilts are known well.

good luck
