Large print fabric - now what?

I bought 2.5 yards of this fabric. All the shop had. Absolutely love it, but now that I've got it at home, I don't know what pattern to use. I'm afraid to cut it up and mess up the design. Any suggestions?

How about fussy cutting squares to get the most design you want in each square and alternating those blocks with a nine patch or four patch of coordinating fabrics. Or, cut a whole vertical strip and put blocks in between. There's also a pattern called Too Pretty to Cut that you may want to look at. I am sure others will have more suggestions. I forgot to say that I love the fabric!!!

How about a lap quilt, with it as the backing?
Or .... because you like it so much, do it as a whole cloth top and outline quilt the pattern designs, with the backing being a coordinating plain fabric where you'll see the outlines from the backside too.

oh I would fussy cut some then cut the rest up like regular so you get the color without the pattern it would be very nice. the birds, cut those :)

You could cut a large section of it and use that like a panel in the quilt, then put 3 borders on it. The first one and the third one could be coordinating fabrics and the 2nd one could be the rest of the focus fabric. That's easy to do and preserves/highlights the beauty of the fabric for you.

Have fun with it, whatever you do with it.

That fabric is just lovely.

Would you consider a quilt by Modern Quilt Relish? I did one (see below) and it was so much fun. Your fabric may work. The one I did is called TV Dinner. http://modernquiltrelish.blogspot.ca...tern-shop.html

I just bought a 9 inch heagon die...that material would be awesome. Jenny D has a template and a turtorial on how to do an easy hexagon quilt

I have often seen people pull the main colors and theme out of the large print design and make a top with it, and then use the print for the border. That is what I would do.
