I need a quilt pattern for an 8 point star. I want to make a large queen size quilt for my bed and I want it to be one 8point star pattern. Do any of you fuys know where I can find such a thing or is their one? I have one for 8 point stars but not a large scale one. I would like it tobe in large sections not a lot of little ones. Please help me if you can
Thanks for listening.

I made a star quilt with a center that covers the top of a queen size bed with borders that frame it and hang over. I think this is what you're asking about, right? All I did was take some graph paper and draw it out to the size I wanted and added seam allowances to the blocks and borders. Hope this helped. (Or was it clear as mud LOL?)

When I was on the site, Allpeoplequilt.com, there was a free pattern that appeared to fit your requirements, but for some reason I couldn't log on to get a better look. It looked like it was a square, but that part is easy to fix. If you can't find it, I'll try again tomorrow to access it.

The way I was taught to make them larger was make bigger,
if normally made with 4 inch blocks make a 12-16 inch, then border out from there.

I think you're talking a "Lone Star" & the star done in only 8 pieces of fabric? Some lone stae patterns are diamonds, others are long strips sewn together then cut the point. I'd take a Lone Star pattern & instead of cutting/sewing all the diamonds or strips together just measure out the size & cut 8 pieces. Not sure if this is what you're looking for or not, but this site has tradition Native American Star quits & patterns:

Look up ShySally's lone star twist. Her posting has a beautiful large star. I think it said that it was from the book Easy & Elegant Lone Star Quilts. In her post she said that it was easy. I've always been afraid of the Lone Star with all those little pieces, but I'm going to look for the book the next time I'm in our local book store.
