Last night :)
Last night, well actually the wee hours of this morning, I was working on a particularly frustrating project. You know something that should take 20 minutes that you mess up and of course there is no more fabric so then it takes three hours to reverse engineer it. I need it done for Sunday.
Anyway, my sewing room which is pathologically neat and organized according to my friends, looked like a hurricane hit. I did get the project finished and if I do say so myself it looks spectacular! This morning I got up and cleaned it up. Now the room was spotless before last night and this project.....this may give you a hint of my frustration with this project. I found SIX seam rippers from last night--all around the room. FIVE different marking tools. EIGHT different rulers and squares. A plethora of every pin and glue/adhesive product I own. And FOUR different types of feet for my machine were out besides the foot I had on the machine. Just thought I would share. This is a world's record for me. |
Do we get to see the project?
I feel your pain. I just finished a quilt 2 weeks ago, that was 2 years in the making. I just didn't like it, and I have a self-imposed rule - I will not start another quilt until the one I am working on is finished. To show the difference - I finished another quilt yesterday.

Yes, picture please!!
I agree would love to see a photo!
So glad to hear all worked out well!
I am glad that night is over!!

You mean it's not supposed to look like this? |
I took my camera to work. It was just a tote not a quilt
You are priceless! We can certainly join the feelings you must have had......... Glad to see you come out victorious!

My grandmother used to say, "You never know what you got until you move." The same applies to cleaning, reorganizing, straightening up the quilting/sewing space, lol. I have found notions I didn't know I had. Or when I am auditioning fabrics from my stash for a project, I also come across fantastic fabrics that I don't remember buying:D

I have a place for everything and when I'm working on a project, nothing is in it's place. It drives me crazy but it's the nature of being creative. I loved the massive spread of tools that signaled High Creativity Happening!!
i know just how you feel! we should exchange phone numbers, lol, i'm up at night sewing, unsewing, again and again sometimes! as much as i love the quiet of the night, and dh is fast asleep, sometimes you just need someone to hear you vent. congrats on pulling it through!
AND I thought I was the only one !LOL <Whew> I was about to see a doc about my umm problem, but now that I know I am not the only one...I can sleep better .. LOL
Glad to see I'm not alone, the last part where the sewing room looks like a tornado went through, although I'm trying harder to keep it organized.
My dear daddy, who passed away 17 years ago, once bought me a button for my coat that read, "I'm not messy, I'm creative!" Unfortunately, I lost that button.
With me, it's scissors that tend to wander around the house. |
I am naturally a night owl . Would go to bed at 2 am if possible but then I have to work in the morning.
I dont know why but I cant seem to keep my hands on my seam rippers, rulers, and feet while I am sewing. Glad to know I am not the only one. |
Sounds like a nightmare come true! Glad you made it.
Glad you got it done, but I thought stuff all over the place was normal. I have an embroidery design that says, 'A creative mess is better than tidy idleness.' That's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!

I was sewing the Fat Quarter bag and before I was done I couldn't find the many seam rippers I had pulled from my basket to use. I had to go to my stash basket and open a brand new seam ripper, I was too frustrated to look for one of the others. My sewing room is still in shambles after that Sunday night project. The bag turned out great.
I so understand. I made a diaper bag, & I went through the same thing as you. Finally got done ...
I thoght the solution was to have many of the same, seam reapers, sissors, etc, but I realized it is not. Have you tried to hung them from your neck? Lol, not, you might missplace it as well. LOL thanks for sharing! We quilters have more in common than just the passion for quilting.
Tried the method of hanging scissors around my neck - managed to stab myself! LOL!
