Leaders for Quilt frame
Hi folks,
I am going to need to make new leaders for my quilt frame. Was thinking about using pillow ticking. Any other ideas? Thanks! |
Canvas works well, it's heavier then pillow ticking, will last longer.

I used the canvas from Joanns, used a stripe so I could keep it straight, they work great!
|
Thanks! I'll be going to Wichita Falls in a few days. I'm sure I can pick some up there.

I used upholstery fabric. Works for me :).

I made mine with duck cloth (which I believe is a type of canvas).

I used canvas...wish i had seen the stripe... i used a permanent sharpie and followed an actual thread all the way across on both sides (one for attaching to the pipe and the other for finishing the working edge)... just so i could have a better line than the original leaders. then i sewed a couple of measuring tapes FROM the center to the outside, with the first, and then FROM the center to the outside with the second. One will be upside down but you can still read it and the reference points will be great, FOREVER.

My leaders are actually made of regular unbleached muslin. The came with the frame from the original owner. I don't know how long she used them but I've had them for at least 5 or 6 years. The only reason to consider replacing them is that they are boring to look at. I'd guess they will still probably last me another 5-6 years. I do pin my layers rather than sewing them however.
