I guess that's pretty much it, lol. How do you know what the middle fabrics are? Or do you go by the outer fabric, love it, then decide the middles are OK?

Do you like being surprised like this?

Yeah....what Loretta said :D Butterfli, I wondered the same thing with Jelly Rolls and Charms. Then I realized that those usually are part of a Collection, so I just try to find that Collection to see what all the fabrics are. Clear as mud? Most times I can find what the innards are, but one time I couldn't, so I didn't order it.

I looovvve surprises!! I am guilty of buying bags of scrap/ends/remnants too :D 8) :D Most of the time I am not patient enough to look up all of the fabric in a collection

Jelly Rolls and charm packs are always great if they are Moda. I haven't had one yet that disappointed me. Right now I'm hooked on the Flag Day Farm line.

I just bought my first l10" layer cake and I did what the others suggest. It was from the Hancock's catalog and I went on-line & looked at that collection. If I remember, it was Moda and 'me & my sister' possibly was the collection.

Now at my LQS, they sell charm packs but they are all sorts of pieces in there. But I can thumb thru those. LOL
