Lone Star Pattern

Does anyone know of or seen a pattern for the Lone Star wall hanging that is made with squares instead of triangles? Thanks for any help. Glenda

Here's one that is strip pieced. . . not sure it is what you are looking for though

Here are the basics to make a Lone Star quilt (or Lemoyne block) out of HST blocks:

http://www.ideas-for-quilting.com/le...uiltblock.html

It's all about the color placement.
You can make the block/quilt any size you want, just as long as HST are the same size.

It's basically a 16-patch block:
4 HST blocks with color A and B
4 HST blocks color A and background color
4 HST blocks color B and background color
4 corner squares background color

But it's really not a LS/Lemonyne, even though they call it that in the link I posted ;-) ;-) ;-)

But visually, it's close.

I think you meant "instead of diamonds" (as those are traditonaly the patches used in LS/Lemoyne block/quilt).

The link in auntpiggylpn's post is made with 45 degree DIAMONDS.

The geometry in - what I call a LeMoyne star - is really cool!

Look at my avatar it is the thangles pattern. I did it without the paper. Used six inch blocks and six and one half hst. Just watch your placements.

There was one in an old Buggy Barn book, also check out the patterns by Calico Carriage - hers are all done with half square triangles. www.calicocarriage.com

Quiltstringz and I think alike!

Yesterday I signed up for a class with Debbie Maddy to make the Evening Star quilt. It is a lone star type made with all hsts . She designed the Labyrinth quilt pattern that is so popular. The pattern looks simple to follow without the class if you want to try it.

I have made 2 Lone Stars using Quilt Smart. Came out perfect and remained stable. Lone Stars have a tendancy to stretch from so much bias. Quiltsmart.com

I, too, have used the Quilt Smart Lone Star and love it!! However, using a glue stick rather than an iron to place the
pieces is much easier!
