I took another stab at learning free motion quilting at a local quilt shop with a fantastic and patient teacheryesterday. There were 5 other wonderful ladies also trying their hand at this technique, I must say there were some that were off to a great start!!! This is my second class, I do keep trying but I don't think my brainis wired for FMQ!!! So my LAQ is safe in her job!!!LOL!!! I am ok at the SID and grids but FMQ is something else. So for now my quilts will trot off to my LAQ and she is a lovely lady and does very nice work at a reasonable price. So I will continue to practice !!

I have to say that I practiced and practiced FMQ on my little machine, and I sucked at it. But when I got a frame and mid-arm, it is a whole different story. I find it so much easier to move the carriage over the quilt, and it's a completely different thing for me. If you have LA in a local shop that you can rent for a time, you ought to try it. Although I must warn you it can be addictive.
Good luck. |
LOL I bet you will get better and be able to do your own before long :D:D:D
