long-arm quilting classes houston area

I live just north of Houston, Tx and am looking for a long-arm machine quilting class/teacher. I have a kenquilt 622 (they have been bought out or closed or something). All the classes I can find are on machines that the shops are selling, not on your own machine. I have done lots of quilting on it, but am becoming more and more frustrated as different situations come-up that I don't have answers for. Thanks.

I don't have an answer but wanted to say Hi, I grew up in Conroe.
It may cost too much but perhaps you could find a longarmer who would give you private lessons. You may not find anyone who can teach you to use "your" machine, but general longarming.
good luck

You will be hard pressed to find any kind of LA class tailored to your specific machine. Most of these classes focus on technique that is independent of what kind of machine you are using. Like classes offered at the big quilting shows. If you feel comfortable with technique and it is technical issues that have you feeling frustrated you may be better off joining an on line group for at home set ups. There are several machine quilting forums in yahoo groups and you may find one specific to your set up. another option is you tube videos. If you are having problems with tension issues search for videos on adjusting long arm tensions (Jamie Wallen has an excellent one). If you are having a problem with thread breakage you may try going to Superior Thread's education site, there is a wealth of info on what kind of tension settings and needle size you should be using with certain threads. Another option is to seek out longarmers in your area for personal lessons but I suspect the cost will be quite high for that.
