Hi. I went to Walmart and to Hobby Lobby yesterday, and I was SHOCKED at the increase in the price of batting! It has almost doubled at Walmart. Anyway, I am wondering if any of you know of a place where I could get a good price on batting now. I'm willing to buy it in bulk, but I'm not sure where to look.

Thanks for any advice!
Cyndi

This is the only way that I buy batting. If I can't find anything else with the coupon I try to stock up on the batting.

Yup. It ends up being kinda a chunk, but to have a lovely roll of batting at your disposal?? LOVELY!

I usually purchace on line from JoAnns using a 40 or 50% off coupon and have a whole 40 yd roll shipped directly to my doorstop.

Lisa T 05-13-2010 09:15 AM

I am with the Joann's folks! My mom did it this winter and I just did, too. I haven't even used mine yet!

One thing- my mom said to try to store it laying on it's side in the box. She said when she stood it on end it kind of crumpled. Maybe that will help someone!

amma 05-13-2010 11:06 AM

I am a Joann's shopper too :D:D:D

Me too! Of course, it is the only fabric store in our small town!

CarrieAnne 05-13-2010 11:16 AM

JoAnnes for me too, because of the coupons! UGH! I havent had to buy any in a while, I will have sticker shock for sure!

purplemem 05-13-2010 01:00 PM

I bought one queen batt at Hobby Lobby online today with coupon, it was $25 incl shipping, this was for the cotton fusible batt so I thought that was a good deal. I haven't tried the fusible yet, I will use this for 2 baby quilts, maybe 3 if I'm lucky!

http://hobbylobby.com/weekly/coupon.cfm
go to this page and use this coupon for 40% off online, has a link to shop online at the top right of the page

Jingle 05-13-2010 01:10 PM

I only use polyester batting and I have some I keep on hand about 8 bags of it. I bought some from Connecting Threads when it was on sale, it's nice but thin, I always buy hi-loft, that seems thin to me and the lo-loft is very thin.
I will just have to grin and pay the price when I run out.

With polyester there is NO shrinkage.

patricej 05-13-2010 01:14 PM

fabricdepot.com gives a 40% discount whenever you buy the whole roll of batting.

no coupon necessary.

Bluphrog 05-13-2010 01:16 PM

I was very lucky. My darling sister bought me 7 packages of king-sized Warm & White at the last International Quilt Festival in Houston. Late on Sunday afternoon, the vendors start discounting their products (so they won't have to transport them back, probably), and she paid $100 for the 7 packages. So, since I do mainly crib and lap quilts, I'm set for a while. If you are planning to go to a quilt show, especially one of the big ones, it's worth it to stick around to the bitter end.

Batt.mart.com

Luvnquilting 05-13-2010 04:08 PM

Marshall's have really great prices.

SuziC 05-14-2010 02:52 AM

I agree! I wait until i have the JO coupons and get 40-50% off!

pieces 05-14-2010 04:25 AM

I agree with Sharon, The only time I buy batting is from JoAnns when they have a sale 50% off, or I use my 50% off coupon. Last time I ordered it online, they had a 50% 0ff coupon. Postage was as cheap as driving the 30 miles to JoAnns.

materialgrl 05-15-2010 04:21 AM

I need alot of batting to, Connecting threads had warm and natural for 30% off a few weeks ago, but as usual I missed it. I will wait for the next sale,or my local Ben Franklins is great I told her I would be willing to buy a whole case and she is working up a price. maybe you have someone close to work with ,it doesn't hurt to ask. Nothing againts joannes, but in times like this I want to keep my local community working and keep my money close to home, I realize thats not always possible though

grannypjb 05-15-2010 06:00 AM

If you are looking for a good price on batting, go to FabricDepot.com. They have some at 50% off.

Pickle 05-15-2010 06:18 AM

Is fabricdepot.com the right address ? I am just wondering because it does't look like it is complete, I am interested,I ususally go on line at Jo Anns too but always looking for new ideas.

grannypjb 05-15-2010 06:20 AM

Yes, I have ordered from them previously and they usually have really good prices.

Horsestitcher 05-15-2010 06:57 AM

I buy Warm and Natural by the bolt. Comes to $240 with delivery but it's 90" wide and 40 yards on the bolt. www.thewarmcompany.com

I usually buy a whole roll at Joanns when I can get it 50% off

I went to the Hobby Lobby site and for some reason after entering the on line shopping......I can't get to the pages of fabric. What do I need to do to shop batting and fabric???? Thanks everyone.
Stay safe..
Jean

Bobbielinks 05-15-2010 08:40 AM

Do you have a sales/use tax number? If so check out www.quiltedmemoriesllc.com; Hobbs Bonded Fibers in Waco, Tx; or Haiks in Springfield, MO.

Jean,
after going onto the site and getting the coupon code, it will bring you to a page with all their fancy stuff on it. In the upper left is a search bar, search for "batting" and it will bring you to the batting page. It will automatically add coupon code when you purchase.

JoAnnGC 05-15-2010 08:52 AM

I buy Warm & Natural at Jo-Ann's. Last time it was on sale for $5.99/yd for the 90" width and believe me, I stocked up. If it is not on sale when I need it I make sure that I use a 40% or 50% off coupon. I am a bargain hunter and this is the best place I've found for this batting brand.

JS 05-15-2010 09:52 AM

Thank you everyone !
Jean

Mary Bird 05-15-2010 09:57 AM

I got a bolt of 20yds at $5.99/yard at Hancock's last week.

Pickle 05-15-2010 10:05 AM

Thanks for all the sugestions, I will keep them all in mind and this gives me more options to hunt for a good price.
I am fairly new to this site and just have a great time reading and sharing , Thanks again

rivka 05-15-2010 12:27 PM

I bought my batting from this place: http://www.heartbeatquilting.com/battingmuslin.html

I got the 80/20, 108" roll; that's enough batting to last me for a good long time!!

Do they take the 50% off the whole roll or just the first yard. I've had some questions about this in the store.

peaceandjoy 05-15-2010 04:05 PM

I've always gotten it off of however much I was buying - never buy just one yard, but never a whole roll, etiher.

Evelyn 05-15-2010 04:15 PM

I order 50 yds at a time from JoAnns.com using 50% of coupon and often get free shipping.
