A cathedral window quilt project is calling me to be made. :D I have read the directions and it looks like it will not be a problem. I was wondering if you guys could give me some color suggestions. I would like the classic white or maybe off white/ ecru. I believe someone posted a gorgeous quilt on here the other day with the windows all black. I prefer all the windows being the same color like it was in that quilt- but I don't want to do black. What would be beautiful to you? I like girly colors like pink and pastels, but just an not sure what to do. Throw some ideas at me, please :!:

Any of the jewel tones would be beautiful in a Cathedral Window Quilt. I have always wanted to do one in gradations like rainbows from top left to bottom right. Someday! :?

See I never would have thought of jewel tones. Sapphire blue would be gorgeous. The rainbow idea sounds pretty too. I just thought that black windowed quilt I saw on here was the prettiest one I had ever seen. Sapphire would give a similiar beauty as well as the black did.

A deep blue would be very pretty. I couldn't of anything but white and off white when I first read your post.

I would let the other colors determine the backing or surrounding color. What are you putting in the windows.

I don't know. I am open to suggestions for EVERYTHING. Color combinations are what I am pondering right now. I don't know what I want.

I plan to do one with flowers.. all different colors. I did one on lite blue and it was really pretty .. I am thinking flowers so I can make a tab curtain for the bathroom with it. Just my thoughts.. Good Luck!

Who is it for, if its for you what are favorite colors or color combinations. Are you using your stash or are you buying new fabric. If you are using your stash, pick out your favorites and see what jumps out at you. If you are buying new fabric, take a trip to your favorite fabric place and feel it calling you. I believe that fabric calls to you and you will find something you like and the backing color will come also. My stash was from a trip around the country that i took, and I stopped at every city I stayed in and bought a 1/2 yard. I sometimes asked the person cutting which is their favorite or what reminds them of where they live and now I have all kinds of fabrics from chickens to Elvis to native american and it made a beautiful peek a boo quilt that has every know color known to man and my husband loves it. The peek a boo quilt looks a lot like cathedral and its made with circles. The opposite side is multicolored. Anyway let your heart lead you.

I made a handbag with cathedral windows, I used a bright purple and in the "windows" I fussy cut some cat fabric, so each window has a cat peering out.

I'd load a photo, but I've forgotten how to... again!

*sigh* can't get it to load the photo into the box.

That is cute. Good Job

I agree if using white or ecru you need a bold color for the inside. I think a pastel with white or ecru will look washed out.

That cathedral quilt you showed the link to is beautiful. I would never have thought that black and white could look so good. I have seen the rainbow ones and those are lovely too

Tell us what you decide won´t you.

I really think I am going to go with white squares with a sapphire blue center. I think that would "pop" with the crisp white squares. The quilt will be for me, so even if it isn't perfect, who cares?

The day I make a perfect quilt there will be a blue moon LOL

I found this on You tube. Its a How to make Faux Cathedral windows and it looks easy, and faster than the original method. Take a look, here is the site and tell me what you all think.

I think the imperfections are what makes a quilt wonderful! I think what we do is art and an expression of ourselves. We all have flaws, but we are still loved as God's children. It's ok if our quilts are a little flawed too.
