I am looking for a braid pattern. It is not the Peggy Sue's Braids from Quilter's Cache. I don't remember the name of it. You start sewing your 6" strips on from the bottom and work up till you have it long enough and then you start another column. Anyone got any ideas? I don't even have a picture to show you.

Is it the french braid? I know there's been pictures, etc. about this on the board, try doing a search for french braid or braid.

It might be a variation of the french braid. I don't remember it having the word french in the title.

this is an excellent site ... Pioneer Braid is the one you are looking for.
Don't worry when a braid pattern calls for a triangle at the beginning. The concept is the same <wave>

YES! please let us know... because I was just about to send the name of the book I have out from the library... "French Braids" by Jane Hardy Miller with Arlene Netten. Very interesting concept and results, tho' not sure if I'll tackle it soon. Too many UFO's taking up space here...

Omak hit the nail on the head when she mentioned the Pioneer Braid. that is exactly the one I was looking for. Once I get to it I can sew it now. Gonna use my batiks to make it with.

Well, that newest picture surely shows the vibrant colors, now, doesn't it?
I see that you alternated the braids with solid strips between (thinking about another thread I have been following) it really makes that quilt move. Bet the baby that got that quilt thinks you are just WONDERFUL!
I like your byline about courage.
John Wayne said: Courage is - - being scared to death, but saddling up anyway ...
don't you think they are close in meaning? Good encouraging words. ,wave>

John Wayne was one of my fav actors. just gotta love a mans man!

Mary Anne Radmacher is the Author of the book,by the same name. she is a life coach.

The other thread, re: the "french braid"..sounds like to much perfection involved. i would go nuts trying to line up the points..lol! this one, you flip the braid one way, then the other! easy!
