Where do you buy a sewing table with built in machine lift ?
The desk I use is so heavy, with built in drawer etc, would take an expert to adapt it.Does any place sell used tables? I'm in no hurry & don't need a $$$ table, but hope to find something this yr.Think a lower shelf to sit machine flush would be more comfy sewing. Thanks for any info. |
I have a Horn cabinet, which I think has an equivalent in the US and is rather pricey, even in the cheaper end of the range. These cabinets always have a lift incorporated, but truthfully, I rarely use the lift, cos I never close it up.
I also have a SewEzi table which is the lower end of the market, because it doesn't have a lift. What it does do is allow you to use your machine flush with the surface, and it is very portable (has two little wheels) if you ever go to classes etc. In both cases, you can get extra inserts for different machines, i.e. I have three inserts for my SewEzi so I can use my Bernina, a Featherweight, and a solid insert to convert it to a plain table |
Question regarding the SewEzi table - does the table wiggly while sewing. I need a table also, but I certainly don't like it when a table wiggles. Thanks

Here is what I have.
It is made by Horn http://cgi.ebay.com/Kenssew-K79-Sewi...item5ad58a9a8c It is solid & moves around with ease. I absolutely love it.    Pictures of mine. http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-55069-1.htm |
If you were in Ohio my husband could make you one for a few hundred less than store bought ones. He has done it for me

Hosta, I see that plainpat is from the Buckeye State and isn't that Ohio? Maybe you two can hook up!
Anyway, want to mention Arrow cabinets. They have many models to choose from and are reasonably priced. Also see www.kenssewingcenter.com. They have wonderful prices. |
I have a table that is like the SewEzi That I bought at a second hand place. It works great! The only time that I make it 'wiggle' is when I am running my machine (either sewing or usually serger) at top speed. Just for regular sewing it is fine. Mine does not have the wheels, just T legs.

Thanks Sharon - I was worried it would shake somewhat.
