Hi. If you had to make a choice between these machines, which would you choose?
1. Quest Plus $1599.00
2. Q Choice Pro $999.00
3. Janome Memory 6600P $1395.00
4. Janome Horizon 7700 $3000.00
5. Innovis QC1000 $1795

Also, our local sewing center has the Crown Jewel on sale for $7695.00 (they say it's regular $11,900.00) with software. Should I wait a couple of months and save up for this long-arm...or go with one of the 5 choices above???

Thanks for your advice!
Cyndi

I got the Janome 6600P for Christmas. I love it! Really easy to use (I don't feel like I need an engineering degree to sew), the manual is user friendly (the only thing is doesn't tell you is how to oil it -- I need to figure that out). It does everything I want except make coffee!

What about a Viking for 999??

CyndiKinney 05-09-2010 05:46 PM

So do you do your actual QUILTING on it, or just your piecing??

I purchased the 6600P about 2 months ago, but I paid 1049 for it. Its a very good quality machine and I can recommend it highly. The new Horizon 7700 looks like a very nice machine, but it is more $$$. It all depends on what you're willing to spend and what you want out of a machine.

What Viking model are you looking at for 999? Vikings really are nice machines, but then again, you need to decide what features are important to you.

If I had the money it would be the Janome Horizon.

It depends on what you plan to do with it and what machine(s) you all ready have.

I think the new Janome 7700 is overpriced right now because of the hype. You don't have the Viking Sapphire on your list and it was selling for $900 at Paducah which I thought was an excellent deal.

There is also an Elna 7300 which is very similar to the Janome 6600 on your list.

Have you tried out all of these machines yourself? It's a lot like buying a car; what is the best fit for one person may be very uncomfortable for another.

Here is another thread about machines I ran across here:

You may want to do searches on these specific models to see what other comments may have been posted about them on this forum.

I don't think it's a good idea to invest in a longarm until you have done a year's worth of research to determine which one would be right for your situation. If you are a new quilter, definitely do not buy a longarm until you have some experience under your belt.
